Join us for a Research Day focused on the Future of Health

November 4th, 2020 from 9:00am to 12:30pm, Online

Discover various research activities conducted by students and trainees from some of UBC’s Research Excellence Clusters. Students from the Dynamic Brain Circuits in Health and Disease, Women's Health and Biomedical Imaging and AI clusters will present posters that address the Future of Health.

Join us for a virtual morning of multi-disciplinary exploration as our students address pressing questions around the future of health.

The day will include:

  • Virtual Poster presentations exhibiting students’ work
  • Virtual Lightning-Round presentations by the top 10 abstracts
  • Brainstorming Session for UBC Health's HIFI Award

Why should you participate?

The goal of our Tri-Cluster Research Day is to provide a setting for faculty and students to identify current research projects that relate to their work and facilitate the co-creation of new research ideas.

Research Day will:

  • provide an opportunity for you to explain your research and gain valuable feedback;
  • hone your skills in writing an abstract and strengthen your presentation skills;
  • give you a chance to practice communicating your research to a diverse group of people;
  • Let you meet potential collaborators and network with peers.

Presentations

Abstracts will be judged by professors from all three clusters. The top 10 will be invited to present their research in a 5 minute lightning talk.

Format

The virtual poster session will be hosted through Slack channels and Zoom meetings.

Most of our event will take place in a zoom webinar. We will all meet there and start the event at 9 am. At 9:15 our poster session will begin. At this time, all attendees and presenters will open up a Slack Work Space called “Tri-Cluster” (please register for this link). All of our poster presentations will be divided among 3 slack channels. From 9:15-10:15 you may browse each channel and view posters that interest you. If you would like to speak with a poster author, they’ll have a personal Zoom Meeting link posted beside their poster that you can click on to chat with them directly. At 10:15 you can make your way back to the original Zoom Webinar using the same login information.

UBC Health Award Session

UBC Health has launched their Health Innovation Funding Investment (HIFI) Awards, the award is intended to catalyze health researchers to undertake innovative, possibly risky activities that have the potential to create change.

Initiatives must include faculty members and/or trainees from at least two different UBC faculties. We will be facilitating a brainstorming session for the award at 11:30am on November 4th. Join us in the morning to learn about the work being done by our diverse groups and kickstart your brainstorming process!

We believe our tri-cluster research day can act as a catalyst for collaboration. Join us for a day of multidisciplinary exploration and leave with a potential HIFI award partner.
